Twisted Ankle

Tripping on a step, dog toy or injury during exercising, our ankles are built to rotate and bend but sometimes it extends too much and you question whether it is a fraction or sprain.

The member rolled his ankle and used the app to contact the healthshare, explained what happened and was connected with a provider to have a visit.  He was then provided an order form to go to an imaging center for an x-ray. He was contacted the next day and was told it is just a sprain with steps to help the healing.

Pain in the Middle of the Night

It seems like it is always in the middle of the night that an unexpected ailment or pain occurs.  Not too many options for care at 2am but the Emergency Room.

The member awoke at 3am and could not bend their elbow and it was quite painful to move the arm. They called the healthshare number and within 20 minutes was connected with a provider.  The provider suggested two options after running through possible scenarios of cause, primary care visit or urgent care f the pain was not severe enough to go to the ER.  The member opted for a primary care visit. Both options were included in the plan because they started with the healthshare and not went directly to the provider.  The primary care physician recommended an MRI, patient coordinated with the healthshare the fair medical rate for the zip code they lived in. The following day the member received an MRI, a week later the primary care physician followed up with the member to explain it is tendonitis and went over next steps for care.

Middle of the night provider visit $0, MRI $300, this amount goes to the annual $3,000 max out of pocket and if surgery was needed would be deducted from the patient responsibility amount, bringing the cost down to $700 for the surgery. Follow up visit $0.
